JOURNALIST SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR APOSTASY

As if the case of the Sudanese woman is'nt fresh in our memories.When earlier in this year 2014 she was sentenced to death for Apostasy,another person,a journalist from Mauritania,has been given the death sentence for criticizing Prophet Muhamad through his articles.

According to Reuters the journalist was sentenced by a court in the northwestern city of Nouadhibou for an article he published almost a year ago, questioning some of the decisions Prophet Mohammed took during holy wars.

Some folks saw the article which he posted online and appeared on a number of websites and called for his arrest. He was arrested on January 2nd 2014 after the article sparked street protests and has been in custody ever since. When he appeared in court, he pleaded not guilty, telling the court that it was 'not his intention to harm the prophet' but he was still found guilty and sentenced to death under Sharia law. The prosecutors recommended that he be shot to death.

ETCETERA TERMS WIZKID'S SINGLE 'IN MY BED' AS RUBBISH

Six weeks ago, I was in Benin City to support a friend who was getting married that weekend. We drove down to Ugbowo campus of UNIBEN, laughing along the way at bini guys and the way they pronounce certain words. We got stuck in an unusual traffic jam and my friend who was driving, took the opportunity to reply his pings, pausing only to turn up the radio when Wizkid’s “In My Bed” came on. A few seconds later, he increased the volume even more. I accepted that since I was in his car, I had to endure his choice of songs. So I listened, trying to figure out why he was interested in that particular song .

 Though the melody has this jingle-catchy feel, everything else about the song is horrible. The mix brought to mind those days when Nigerian studio engineers were still learning how to mix. The overall instrumentation is noisy with the kick pitched high, like a headache. Played on F-sharp minor, which is a predominantly high key for most people, but the struggling syncopation over a lazy bass line weighs the whole song relentlessly down. My friends know that I have a crazy physical reaction to songs, mostly when I love it. In this instance, I was gasping for breath by the end, as if the song was trying to strangle me. I thanked God I was still alive when it finally ended. But as the traffic lingered my friend put down his phone, this time to surf through radio stations. Again, he landed on “In My Bed.” That was when I really got scared, thinking I was going to pass out.

This year, we have had a mix of both good and bad songs. Wizkid’s “In my bed” is one of those ear worms you don’t want to get into your brain space for three minutes and 46 seconds. Those who will say “WTF” is Etcetera saying? I want you to note that I have a zero interest in persuading you to agree with me. If you enjoy “In My Bed,” I won’t dream of changing your mind. I heard it again last weekend at my manager’s party, and for a second, I thought it was some kind of pain killer advert, because the radio station where I have my show, currently runs an ad that sounds like a more palatable version of it. My Christmas day was almost ruined when a caller on my show requested “In My Bed” for his girlfriend. Because Christmas only comes once in a year, I decided to grant her wish, but as soon as I clicked play, I had the sort of physical reaction associated with someone suddenly coming in contact with bees. And before my mind could process what was happening, I hammered the stop button quickly, arrgh! If you are one of those who regard this song as a standard club track with all the necessary “thumps and bumps” and you are angry at my loathing of it, it doesn’t bother me at all. I have fantasised for weeks about punching this song in the eye, but unfortunately, the song doesn’t have a head, talkless of eyes.

How can one song cram in so many failed decisions per minute? One minute you are trying to woo a girl into your bed, the next, you are saying Tinubu eleniyan, Fashola eleniyan. What has Tinubu eleniyan got to do with getting her in your bed? Are you pimping her to Tinubu or to the other names you mentioned in the song? There’s nothing wrong with praise singing if you do it right. “In My Bed” sounds like a guy trying so hard to get it right and therefore getting it all wrong. You packed in the same overused lines “Anywhere I go all my people show me love / And people trying to bad mouth me. Don’t you think by now, we’ve heard enough of your sniffy little screech of being chased by enemies? It is boring already. Even a connoisseur of pop trash won’t find anything to like about a song like this. “In My Bed” is one song you don’t need to know the lyrics, you may want to shield your friends and loved ones from its strange concoction. It is indeed the worse song of this or any other year. Oh sorry, this year is not over yet, so it’s theoretically possible a worse contender could emerge, but I doubt it. Let’s put it this way, if placed in comparison with any of Artquake’s songs, it would still be a distant second. I can’t remember the last time there was a hit song this whack.

NORTH KOREA CALLS OBAMA A MONKEY OVER THE RELEASE OF THE INTERVIEW

According to Associated Press,North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un,has called the American President Barack Obama a monkey, and blamed the U.S. on Saturday for shutting down its Internet amid the hacking row over the comedy "The Interview."

North Korea has denied involvement in a crippling cyberattack on Sony Pictures but has expressed fury over the comedy depicting an assassination of its leader Kim Jong Un. After Sony Pictures initially called off the release in a decision criticized by Obama, the movie has opened this week.


On Saturday, the North's powerful National Defense Commission, the country's top governing body led by Kim, said that Obama was behind the release of "The Interview." It described the movie as illegal, dishonest and reactionary.

"Obama always goes reckless in words and deeds like a monkey in a tropical forest," an unidentified spokesman at the commission's Policy Department said in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

"If the U.S. is to persistently insist that the hacking attack was made by the DPRK, the U.S. should produce evidence without fail, though belatedly," the statement publish by KCNA said.

He also accused Washington for intermittent outages of North Korea websites this week, after the U.S. had promised to respond to the Sony hack.

There was no immediate reaction from the White House on Saturday.

According to the North Korea commission's spokesman, "the U.S., a big country, started disturbing the Internet operation of major media of the DPRK, not knowing shame like children playing a tag."
The commission said the movie was the results of a hostile U.S. policy toward North Korea, and threatened the U.S. with unspecified consequences.

North Korea and the U.S. remain technically in a state of war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty. The rivals also are locked in an international standoff over the North's nuclear and missile programs and its alleged human rights abuses. The U.S. stations about 28,500 troops in South Korea as deterrence against North Korean aggression.

16 YEAR OLD BOY ARRESTED FOR INSULTING THE PRESIDENT

A 16-year-old Turkish  high school student has been arrested in central Turkey for “insulting”  his country's  president.

He accused President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling party of corruption, sparking angry criticism on Thursday from the opposition.

The boy, identified by his initials M.E.A., was believed to be a member of a leftist organisation, the Hurriyet newspaper reported.

He delivered a speech on Wednesday in the central Anatolian city of Konya, a bastion of Erdogan’s Islamic-rooted Justice and Development Party (AKP), in memory of a young secular teacher killed by Islamists in 1930, according to the newspaper.

The boy, who was arrested by police at school, is now facing up to four years in prison if convicted on the charge.

It was the latest controversial arrest in Turkey in recent weeks. Recent police raids on media outlets affiliated with Erdogan’s top foe, the US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, sparked an angry exchange with the European Union, which said the arrests undermined media freedom.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu supported the court’s decision on the juvenile’s arrest.

“Everyone must respect the office of president whoever he is,” Davutoglu said, quoted in Turkish media.

NORTH KOREA INTERNET UNDER ATTACK

It seems North Korea is experiencing Internet connectivity issues, and those issues could be due to a cyber attack.

And although most citizens  do not have access to the internet,so they might be undeterred. 

However,since Saturday, North Korean Internet has been experiencing widespread connectivity problems, according to Dyn, an Internet performance company.

"We monitor online infrastructure," Adam Coughlin, Dyn's director of corporate communications, told The Huffington Post in a phone call Monday. "We are really able to monitor this sort of thing in real time."

And in monitoring the Internet across the world, Dyn found strange outages in North Korea.

"A benign explanation could be with the border routers," Doug Madory, Dyn's director of Internet analysis, told HuffPost. "Another explanation is that they're experiencing a DDOS attack" -- that is, a distributed denial-of-service attack, a common type of hack.

At least this will show 'lil Kim'that he and his dictatorial Government is infallible.

A bomb explosion has occurred again in a market in A Bomb Explosion has occurred at a market in Bauchi,Nigeria according to the Red Cross,Casualties are heavy.

The bomb ripped through the Central Market killing scores of people,while many others were injured.

Medics arrived at the scene to attend to the wounded,while some were rushed to the hospital in ambulances.

GRIEVING HUSBAND DRIVES INDIAN HOSPITAL TO COURT FOR KILLING HIS WIFE IN LAGOS

This story is too touching,i don't even know what to say,the poor dead woman must have gone through a lot of agony in the hands of the quacks that called themselves nurses and Doctors,please read the story below;

Semako Hunpe, a grieving father resident in Lagos has dragged a female Indian doctor, Bharathi Jayaram practising at the Prema Sai Hospital, a private hospital located in Agege Lagos state before the Lagos state High court over claims of unprofessional misconduct that led to the death of his wife Mrs Oluwasetemi Hunpe (pictured above), and scarring of their new born baby during his wife's delivery at the Indian doctor's hospital on February 26th this year.

Narrating his ordeal to Tribune, Semako said his wife Oluwasetemi had registered at the hospital on February 17, 2014 for antenatal services with the hope that she would have a stress free delivery with the Indian doctor. A week after registering at the hospital, she started experiencing some pre-delivery signs and decided visit the hospital. According to Mr Semako, his wife was given some injections and told to wait till about 5pm on February 26th before she would be taken in to the delivery room.

"When she went into labour, she was ordered to engage in minor exercises to help aid the labour. Before she entered into the labour room I can remember clearly that she was normal like all pregnant women that I had seen; she walked into the labour room by herself. I was invited into the labour room after several hours of intense labour without adequate care and was asked to encourage my wife to push out as she appeared exhausted sequel to prolong hours of labour. On getting to the labour room, I found a nurse applying Aboniki (hot balm), pressing the deceased abdomen while asking her to push and after this amateur mechanism did not yield desired result, they cut the deceased three times to bring out the baby and placed it somewhere unattended to.  First of all, I noticed that the baby was left unattached for a long time while all four nurses were attending to my wife,” he said.

Semako said all through the period that the midwives were battling to birth their baby,  no doctor was in the labor room to assist with the delivery. He said after wasting much time attending to his wife and at the same time leaving his new born child unattended to, the nurses proceeded to call the Indian doctor.

A dog accidentally burnt down its owner's house while playing with a matchbox, firefighters in Canada said.

 The Yukon Fire Marshal said that the fire at the Mount Lorne, began with a dog chewing on a box of matches. Investigators said that no people or dogs were injured in the fire, but the fire and smoke caused damage to the home. A spokesperson for the fire department said that the fire was out by the time firefighters arrived at the scene.

The investigation has determined that this fire was the result of a dog chewing or playing with a box of matches. “There were no injuries to people or pets as a result of this fire. “This is a good reminder of how easy fires can be started! Matches and lighters should always be kept out of the reach of kids, dogs and cats,” the Yukon Fire Marshal’s Office said in a statement.

A pastor at a church in the US that preaches homosexuality is a sin has been charged over an incident in which he allegedly squeezed a man’s genitals.
Gaylard Williams, 59, has been charged with battery after being accused of approaching a car parked at a lake in Indiana, asking its driver to roll down his window, and groping him.

The 27-year-old alleged victim, who has not been named, told police Williams only stopped when he pretended to reach for a gun.

Williams was tracked down via his licence plate and gay pornography was found in his car.

He admits touching the 27-year-old but only on the shoulder, claims he was keeping the pornography for someone else and was only at Cypress Lake to meet someone who fished there.

At Jackson County superior court this week he was charged with battery, bailed on a $350 bond and is due to return next February.The website of the parent church of the Praise Cathedral Church of God in Seymour where Williams preaches states in its beliefs section: “We will engage in thtose activities which glorify God in our body and which avoid the fulfilment of the lust of the flesh.”

Caleb Funke, a youth director at another church in Seymour, told WLKY: “I guess when you hear of a pastor getting caught of that, you get a little more shocked than I guess somebody else. But we’re all sinners.”

HELP!WHY DO BABIES CRY BEFORE THEY SLEEP

The question seems quite random,but is there anyone out there who knows why babies/toddlers cry,throw tantrums before going to bed?I mean why can't they sleep the way we adults do?Must they cry?You back them,breastfeed,sing a lullaby etc but still..

I think there needs to be a research on that and the scientist who gets the right answer deserves a Nobel prize seriously,not kidding!

When a baby wants to sleep,everything has to be put on hold,you can't do anything around the house till the main boss sleeps.

So who knows the cause of this age long parenting issue.

PASTOR BEATEN TO A PULP IN AKURE BY THUGS

Not only did a pastor of a Christ Apostolic Church in Akure flogged mercilessly,the the thugs also emptied the church coffers by carting away all the offering money.

The thugs reportedly besieged the premises of the church named Pillars of Fire, located at a primary school in Akure in droves.They destroyed church properties and gave the pastor a beating of his life.The cause of the beat down is however unknown,but it has been insinuated that a rival pastor sent the hoodlums to the church.

If the report that a pastor sent the thuigs is true,then i wonder what Christianity has really become in this time and age.For you to want to get rid of another pastor means you now see your'calling' as a business venture.As the popular saying goes,only God knows those who really serve him.

Five Students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Ojere,Abeokuta,have been arraigned for illegal possession of firearms and cultism.

The accused students,namely OlawaleAdeniyi,Olayemi Azeeez,Olufalo Bidemi,Hammed Oshilaja and Bashorun Sodiq are being charged on three counts of illegal possession of arms,belonging to a secret cult and conspiracy.

The young men all belong to the dreaded black axe cult,which is punishable under the laws of Ogun State.They have been remanded in custody till their bail requirements are met.

I still do not understand the fascination of young men with cultism,which will lead to your doom more often than not.This is the reason why itis easy for politicians to use these students as thugs to perpetuate terrible acts during elections.Cultism will mar you students,be warned!

TEXAS BASED NIGERIAN COUPLE KILLED BY ROBBERS ON BENIN-ONITSHA ROAD

The family of Texas based businessman,Don Okoro has been thrown into mourning following the tragedy that  befell the family during their ill-fated visit to Nigeria for Christmas.

 The Texas-based Nigerian couple were killed by robbers shortly after landing in Nigeria for holiday.

They came to attend the funeral of a younger relative and stay for Christmas. But last Saturday, they died from a fatal car accident while fleeing from armed robbers who tried to rob them along Benin-Onitsha high way. . . 

Their 2-year old niece who was in the car with them also died. Mr. Don Okoro and his wife, Nkem, were well known members of the Nigerian community in the Houston, Texas. Don was a business man who hailed from Mbaino in Imo State, while his wife was a nurse who hailed from Umuahia. . . 

The Nigerian community in Houston have been thrown into anguish ever since the news of their death filtered in on Sunday and say their death was regrettable and it was something that could have been preventable if only the country was security conscious. 

They are survived by four children.... R.I.P to them.

Following the aftermath of the PDP Governorship primaries which has been marred in controversy,PDP Chieftain,Chief Bode George has finally broken his silence and suggests that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro needs to visit a neurotic ward.

Bode George in his response to these allegations described Obanikoro as a man who “is possessed and obsessed and in need of immediate psychiatric treatment.” Geroge’s position was contained in a statement on Thursday. It reads


“For Obanikoro to claim in sheer ludicrousness that I, even remotely, identify with any intimations of violence is utter lunacy and blind, vindictive madness. Surely, Obanikoro is possessed and obsessed. He needs immediate psychiatric treatment. He is a desperate sinking man, grasping and thrashing in self inflicted chasm. “What is the pedigree of this young man who has abandoned the typical African deference to Elders? We know who sprung from violence and banditry. We know whose antecedents reek in noisome, vagrant, untidy ruffianism.

KENYAN LAWMAKERS PUNCHES AND THROWS WATER ON ONE ANOTHER

Move over Nigerian Lawmakers!What you can do the Kenyans can do better.And this was signified  during Thursday's vote, as lawmakers in Kenya punched one another and dumped water on each other, the Christian Science Monitor reported.

The chaos erupted in the Kenyan parliament  as lawmakers approved a new law designed to target terrorists, but that critics say will greatly infringe the civil liberties of Kenyans.

According to Agence France Press, the new law will allow police to hold terror suspects for nearly a year and give them more authority to tap phones. Under the new law, journalists who publish unapproved pictures of terror suspects or "undermine investigations or security operations relating to terrorism," could go to jail for up to three years, AFP reported.

EIGHT CHILDREN MURDERED IN A HOME IN AUSTRALIA

Not one,not two but eight children?This is such a tragic event in Australia.What is with the violence that is now so prevalent all over the world in recent times?

Eight children have been found dead at a house in Cairns in northern Queensland, say Australian police.

Police said a 34-year-old woman had been taken to hospital with stab wounds but was stable.

The details of the incident and the woman's relationship to the children, aged between 18 months and 15 years, are not yet clear.

Australian reports say the children were stabbed but police have not confirmed this.

Police said it was a "tragic event" but there was no cause for public concern.

Police have cordoned off the house and detectives are searching the yard of the property in the Manoora suburb.

Cairns Detective Inspector Bruno Asnicar told reporters he could not confirm whether the children were from the same family.

He said police currently believed there were eight children involved but "that may go up or down" as the house was searched.

Police have not yet said if they have made any arrests.

The shoot was being held at Myrtle Beach State Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina about 5 weeks prior to the wedding.

BOKO HARAM THREATENS HE EMIR OF KANO

The life of His Royal Highness the Emir of Kano and ex CBN Governor,Sanusi Lamido Sanusi seems to be in jeopardy going by what BBC journalist Naziru Mikail tweeted on his twitter handle.I believe the authorities should take this serious and not see i as a mere threat.

This is because the Emir is an iconic figure in the North and if anything touches even the helm of his garment,there will be chaos and we all know this,So he needs maximum protection at this time.

We can't afford to be lackadaisical in our attitude to the threats issued by this notorious Islamic sect.Its high time the authorities became proactive.Enough said.

38 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR KILLING 8YEAR OLD DAUGHTER THROUGH SEXUAL ABUSE

A father who pleaded with the public for help finding his eight-year-old daughter after she went missing in September has been arrested for killing her.

Hiawayi Robinson, who was found dead behind an abandoned building in Prichard, Alabama two days after she went missing, died as she was being sexually abused by her father, authorities said.

Hiawatha Robinson, 38, was arrested on charges of first-degree sodomy and murder on Tuesday afternoon, and if convicted, he faces up to life in prison for each charge.

'The facts will show that while engaging in sodomy in the first degree, Hiawatha Robinson Jr. caused the death of Hiawayi Robinson,' Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich said while announcing the charges at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

After she was reported missing, the authorities and the community searched for her, and her parents, who are separated, appeared on television to appeal for information. 

'I'm going through pain,' Robinson told Fox10 as he stood beside her mother, Yosha Populus.

'I've been up for the last 24 hours, I've been up all night searching for her - ain't had anything to eat, anything to drink, I ain't going to stop until it's over with - until she's in her home. That's all I want, that's all I ask for.'

When asked what he thought might have happened to her, he said: 'Nothing.'

'I don't believe nothing happened to her,' he said. 'I believe she's out there. She's out there. They just need to let her come home. Her daddy gonna find out what the f*** going on.'

Her mother also pleaded for information as she stood beside the girl's father.

So many dark souls out there in the world,doing the devil's work,only a possessed man would do this to his own little daughter.May the little angel rest in peace.Parents are meant to protect their children and not hurt or kill them,what a shame.

There is no doubt that Professor Osibajo is  of a good pedigree,given his enviable credentials,ut his emergence as the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC came as a surprise to many.Especially as some of the APC governors were being touted to be the General's running mate.A a matter of fact,Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,the formidable APC leader was said to be eyeing the same position.This attracted a lot of criticism.

RAPIST REVEALS HE GETS TURNED ON WHEN HE HEARS NO

Peter Quinn a 23 year old man from England told his two teenage victims that he gets turned on and excited when females reject him and say no.

The sick psycho was arrested and convicted for raping two 19 year old girls .Quinn attacked the girls and abducted them on their way back from a party.He took them to a cemetery and forced them to perform sexual acts on him.One of the girls however was able to escape and call for help.A passerby was said to have seen the rapist chasing the girls and he was subsequently arrested.

Quinn who initially denied ever raping the girls later  pleaded guilty to the rape charges and was sentenced to ten years imprisonment.

56 MORE NIGERIAN SOLDIERS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MUTINY

According to Sahara Reporters,a military court has senenced 56 Nigerian soldiers to death by the firing squad.
 They were convicted in Abuja yesterday on a two count charge of criminal conspiracy to commit mutiny.The convicted soldiers, mostly officers involved in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists in Northeast Nigeria, are to die on stakes, by firing squad.The soldiers, attached to the 7 Division, Nigerian Army in Maiduguri include two Corporals, Cpl, nine Lance Corporals, LCpl and 49 Private soldiers.
The charge sheet said the soldiers conspired to commit mutiny against the authorities of the 7 Division on August 4, at the Mulai Primary School camp, opposite AIT Maiduguri, Borno State.
All the accused soldiers pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, J.E. Nwosu, an army Captain, alleged that the accused soldiers had on August 4, in Maiduguri, refused to join the 111 Special Forces Battalion troops, commanded by Timothy Opurum, a Lieutenant Colonel for an operation.
Mr. Nwosu said the operation was meant to recapture Delwa, Bulabulin and Damboa in Borno State from the Boko Haram terrorists.
According to him, the offence is punishable under Section 52(1) (a) of the Armed Forces Act Cap A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria,2004.
I feel pity for the convicted soldiers,it has been said that mutiny is a grave offence in the military and it is punishable by death.
The soldiers are the second batch of Nigerian soldiers condemned to death by Nigerian Military courts for mutiny.The trial of the soldiers began on October 15 on allegations they disobeyed orders to join operations against the extremist group, Boko Haram.

We all know there is no love lost between  the Chairman of the Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West, Buruji Kahsamu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.Kashamu  has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recently published autobiography, My Watch, as a ‘worthless book filled with lies and cheap blackmail.’ Kashamu said this at a press conference in Lagos on Monday. It would be recalled that Kashamu went to court to seek an order to restrain Obasanjo from releasing the book, but Obasanjo still went ahead to release the book despite the court order. In response to this, Kashamu said Obasanjo’s action shows that he’s not a good role model. “If Chief Obasanjo likes, let him continue to disobey court orders and write tens of thousands of such books, it does not matter and cannot change anything. All that he has written in his book is worthless and cheap blackmail. If he is truly a father figure as he wants the whole world to believe, he would not publish such crap and gleefully present it to the public. “If he truly loves Nigeria as he is wont to claim, he would not want to pull down the roof over the whole house just because he wants to continue to be relevant in the scheme of things. This Obasanjo does not love Nigeria. He wants to destroy it, just because he no longer calls the shots. He loves himself and himself alone,” Kashamu said.
