RIP MAYA ANGELOU

Celebrated Afro-American Poet Maya SAngelou is dead.She died at the ripe age of 86.
I remember buying one of her books titled 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings' and i was enthralled.i later came across so many of her poems.

Just some days ago i learnt she was down with an unknown ailment,so sad it resorted to her death.May her soul rest in peace.

In the western world where Seyi Akinwowo leaves,her dreams were made valid and thus she's now the youngest Councillor and her party's youngest representative.

The 22-year-old, who won a seat in Forest Gate North, says representing the ward is particularly personal to her as it is where she grew up.
“It was lovely to be canvassing in Maryland where I went to school,” Seyi, who now lives in West Ham, said. “It’s been a great experience and having grown up in Newham in the area that I am representing I definitely think will help me.”
Seyi, who was previously part of the borough’s youth council, says that she hopes to bring a “new fresh perspective” drawing on her experiences of living in the borough - and can’t wait to get stuck in.

According to The Nation Newspaper,Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano’s determination to rid the state of criminals has yielded result, as a suspected kidnap gang leader, Okechukwu Nnaegbo, has been nabbed aboard a South African Airways flight at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

Nnaegbo, who has confessed to being the shadowy figure behind the recent high-profile kidnap cases in the state, was on his way to South Africa to evade the onslaught against criminals, when a team of detectives from the Special Anti-robbery Squad in Anambra, in collaboration with their Lagos State counterparts, pounced on him inside the aircraft.

WHO ARE THE KARDASHIANS DECIEVING

When i first saw a picture of Kylie Jenner,the famous Kardashian sister's baby sister,i did a double take.This is because she looks so different than the look i was accustomed to.

Then people started alleging that she did a nose job,which of course i believe she did!i  mean who gets their looks transformed like this all of a sudden,from the pictures above,they don't look like the same person.Now the bone of contention there is not the fact that someone had a rhinoplasty or whatever,but it is the fact that the recipient is just sixteen.Common!what kind of insecurity or self esteem issues will prompt a 16 year old kid to get a surgery.When i was sixteen,my thoughts were centered on normal girly stuff,well i was not raised in hollywood,so this seem acceptable to the community she was raised in.

Of course the Kardashian P.R machine denied this allegation,stating that it is just but the power of make up(if i hear!)as if the public is dumb,we recognize a contoured nose with powder if we see one,this is surgery,kapish!Do you think getting a surgery for cosmetic reasons is appropriate for a 16 year old?Feel free to share your thoughts.

THREE FEARED DEAD IN JOS FRESH BOMBING

 
This is coming barely a week to the twin blasts that occurred some days agothat left close to 200 people dead.

The unfortunate incident took place on Saturday night at a football viewing center on Bauchi road where football fans watching the European Champions League final,  Vanguard reports.

Chris Olakpe, the commissioner of police for Plateau state, says the bomber’s improvised explosive device “went off prematurely.”

“He died in the wake of the heinous crime. He was consumed by his IED. It exploded before the viewing centre because of pressure from local youths and the alertness of the local people,” he said. 

Bauchi Road is a predominantly Muslim area in Jos.

TRAFFIC ON THE WAY TO IKORODU TOWN CAN MAKE YOU CRY

 
This weekend my sister and  i,alongside my brother decided to honour my cousin's invitation to his wedding at the outskirts of Ikorodu,Ogijo to be precise.To say the journey was hectic will be an understatement,i really must praise the people who work on the island or even Ikeja and commute back to their various homes everyday to and from Ikorodu,i really empathize with them if the gridlock we encountered is  actually what they go through on a daily basis.The traffic was just too much on Saturday.

We all agreed immediately on our way and on seeing the traffic on the other side of the median that we will just eat and say hello to the couple and drive straight back to the mainland!Thank God for following one's  instincts,if not my darling baby would also have bneen caught up in the traffic,luckily i left her at home in comfort.I don't want to imagine how cranky the little one will be in a traffic of over six hours,even with the air conditioner on full blast,it still did not help the situation.

This will not be the first time i would be held up in traffic at this same Ikorodu,to attend a function my experience the first time was not even funny at all,that will be for another post.I just think the government has to do something fast about the ongoing construction on that road,the expansion project seems to have been going on for a long time.They should do something fast so as to ease traffic and make life comfortable for people living in that axis,do not let me even talk about the nuisance danfo drivers constitute in that area,the bulk of the blame is on them,they are so disorderly and do not obey simple traffic rules.I hope Nigeria will get it right soon.

AYO FAYOSE DISQUALIFIED FROM EKITI GUBER RACE

Former governor Ayo Fayose has been disqualified by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja today from contesting the November gubernatorial elections in Ekiti State,where he once held sway as the governor.

This development might not come as a shock in some quarters really because,there has been a lot of infighting in the Ekiti State chapter of the People's Democratic Party,which is the platform Fayose is contesting under. I am sure he will appeal the judgement,Fayose doesnt give up easily going by his antecedents.

So my friend Olamide put up a pm on her bbm stating she forgot to wear her wristwatch when going out and that she feels naked without it,i quickly pinged her and retorted that,i have not worn a watch for close to 2 years,i simply forget and even when i remember i just don't really fancy watches like that,seems weird i know,it sounds very ridiculous but i cant just be bothered.My husband has even stopped trying to get me to wear one,since he has realized i would not bulge.The only accessory i wear on my hands are my wedding bands,while occasionally i do bangles.

Although i admire good pieces and hope to start buying some nice n exquisite  ones soon,but i will have to start by wearing the few ones i have at home first.This post brings me to the question that am i the only one who doesn't fancy watches as much or do people out there feel naked like my friend Lamide without their watches.Please feel free to share your thoughts.

Government needs to curb this atrocious acts fast!It is fast spreading across the country now,where you find mobs pummellin,beating and burning suspected victims to death.

In fact mentally deranged people are the number one targets of this irate mobs,who are keen on venting their pent up frustrations on the next victim.Icannot imagine the number of innocent people that might have died unfortunately due to these wicked acts.

I call upon the government to act fast and put punitive measures in place for any one caught trying to incite or participating in jungle justice.It is getting too rampant and something needs to be done fast.They perpetrators are taking Nigeria back to the cave era.

One would have thought Nigerians would learn after the brutal and tortuous killing of the innocent Aluu 4 young guys,but instead of abating,seems the situation keeps escalating.There have been series of more killings after that,with the Ejigbo sodomy amongst others.

My firm belief and take on this matter is that if some people are made to face the consequences,others will learn and definitely steer clear of mobbing people,but hand them over to the police.

PLEASE WHERE ARE THE CHIBOK GIRLS?

I am even too numb to type this,but either ways,i must lend my support via this medium.What is currently going on in North Eastern Nigeria?Why is there a lukewarm,non-nonchalant approach from the government.Why are they keeping mum over thjis issue?So many question,yet little or no answer.Some reports have it that the girls have been married off.I don't want to imagine the anguish the parents of these young girls are going through.

The Federal Government and the Government of Borno state has a lot to answer as well,as so many things do not seem to add up.Thank God for social media,so many international celebrities have also lend their voices to this cause,from Peirs Morgan,to Chris brown,Mary j Blige and Keri Hilson.My prayer is that these young ones return safely to the comforts of their homes.

A SONG FOR NAIJA-BANKY W STRIVES FOR CHANGE

If only we have more youths and celebrities,going about the Nigerian cause like Banky W,more awareness would have been createdand the government of the day will be on its toes.Kudos to this young ,man,who is earnestly striving for change.
