NORTHERN SCHOOL CHILDREN NOW SEARCHED BEFORE ENTERING SCHOOL

Sadly this is what school children are subjected to in the Northern part of the country. It is an imperative measure, since 10 year olds are now being forced to wear bomb jackets and trained to be suicide bombers.

What a pitiable sight, however,it is what it is.The other children are at risk, teachers are not spared of the terrorist menace.I just pray Nigeria recovers and wakes up from this nightmare.

BLOGGER FLOGGED 50 TIMES FOR INSULTING ISLAM

A  liberal Saudi Arabian Blogger has been lashed  blogger 50 times in public, despite widespread international outrage and calls for clemency from human right groups.
Hillel Neuer, Executive Director of UN Watch, said on twitter that blogger and activist, Raif Badawi, was lashed outside a mosque in the Red Sea coastal city of Jeddah on Friday.
Badawi is due to undergo 50 lashes every week after Friday prayers, which will continue for 20 weeks until his punishment is complete.
Amnesty International says Badawi, who started the “Free Saudi Liberals” website, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 1,000 lashes on charges related to accusations he insulted Islam on the online forum.
He was also ordered by Jeddah’s Criminal Court to pay a fine of $266,000.
“It is horrifying to think that such a vicious and cruel punishment should be imposed on someone who is guilty of nothing more than daring to create a public forum for discussion and peacefully exercising the right to freedom of expression,” Philip Luther, Amnesty’s Middle East and North Africa Director, said.
“Saudi Arabian authorities must immediately halt all plans to carry out this brutal sentence,” he said.
The United States had also appealed to Saudi Arabia to cancel the sentence.
State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, said the US was “greatly concerned.” She called the 1,000 lashes an “inhumane” response to someone exercising his right to freedom of expression and religion.
“The United States government calls on Saudi authorities to cancel this brutal punishment and to review Badawi’s case and sentence,” Psaki said.
Around 14,000 people have signed an online petition calling on Saudi’s King Abdullah to pardon Badawi.
Rights groups and activists say his case is part of a wider clampdown on dissent throughout the kingdom.

THE FORERUNNER FOR THE ANTI-CHRIST IS OBASANJO

Senator Roland Owie
Another round of criticism for Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is coming from  Senator Rowland Owie, a former Chief Whip of the Senate. He has accused former President, Olusegun Obasanjo of fighting President Goodluck Jonathan because Jonathan refused to be his errand boy.
He also blamed the current woes facing the country on the faulty foundation laid by the former president.
Senator Owie said; “The former president should apologize to Nigerians rather than blame the administration of President Jonathan which is doing very well for Nigerians.

BURUJI KASHAMU VOWS TO SUE OBASANJO

Saying there is no love lost between Buruji Kashamu the Chairman, Organisation and Mobilization Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West and former President Obasanjo,is like stating the obvious.

On Tuesday Kashamu said he will sue former President Olusegun Obasanjo for defying a court order not to make a public presentation of his autobiography, “My Watch” in Lagos.

Earlier, Kashamu had obtained a court injunction to stop Obasanjo from publishing the book because he believed the book criticized President Jonathan. According to Kashamu, Obasanjo’s disregard of the court injunction showed his flair for lawlessness. In a statement made available to Punch, Kashamu said, “I have asked my lawyers to press criminal contempt charges against him (Obasanjo) and all those who assisted him in flouting the orders of the court. “I will ensure that they are all dragged before the court, and particularly, Obasanjo, without his cap, to show why he should not be punished for criminal contempt

“Everybody knows that good governance is based on the rule of law, due process and respect for constituted authority. “It beats my imagination that this man can be sermonizing about good governance when he shamelessly advertises all the elements of bad governance. “In short, he is bad governance personified. He is the worst advertisement for the product he is trying to advertise –good governance. “He has shown that he does not have respect for the judiciary, and that he is above the law. “Certainly, President Goodluck Jonathan and his predecessor, the late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua, and others he criticized in the controversial book, which I am reliably informed he did not write, are made of a sterner stuff than him. They are true democrats and gentlemen to the core.
