We the residents of Lagos State will miss the action governor,Babatunde Fashola.The man bestrode Lagos like a collosus.No one since i started growing up in Nigeria has transformed governance,especially a bustling state like Lagos state the way he did.He was marvelous at the job.
Some of his policies seemed herculean,but they were for the greater good of the average Lagos resident.Did i agree with all his policies?no,especially his tiff with doctors in the state.However,he did his bit,he turned around dangerous spots in the city to safe havens.Take the notorious Oshodi as an example,Fashola defied the area boys who had hitherto hijacked that area and turned it into a risky Zone people always try to avoid.Now we all waltz into Oshodi without as much as casting a second glance behind our backs in broad daylight,unlike before where your bag would have been snatched before you could bate an eyelid.
What about his environmntal policies,people became more aware of their environment,it was not business as usual anymore,so much awareness was craeted.He planted trees to curb the effects of the Global warming,and so much more.
How about his prompt rsponse to Ebola,he quickly deployed the best team to curb the disease,or else many would have succumbed to the deadly virus.
His midas touch on every sector in Lagos is a pointer to the fact that with good leaders like Fashola in our society,Nigeria will be great and we will be on the path of attaining 1st world status.Why not,if not?
I just pray for the incoming Governor,Akinwunmi Ambode,because we the people still want to see the Fashola style of Governance in Lagos Sate,perhaps even better.That been said,i will personally miss this indefatigable and highly cerebral Senior Advocate of Nigeria,Babatunde Raji Fashola popularly known as BRF.
