The ability to respect other people's cultures and beliefs is the height of maturity and refinement. I don't know how I came up with the above statement, but this picture up there is so disgusting that it stirs up a kind of repulsion in my soul over this unbecoming act from this young man.
The picture was posted close to a week ago and it has been trending on social media since then, of course with people having varying opinions on the issue. However, i think the general consensus is that majority of the people find this act of his very repulsive.
How can you disrespect some other people's religious symbols just for a fleeting moment of social media infamy? You claim to go on a tour and what do you do when you get to the tourism site, you misbehave, by posing obscenely with an effigy that means so much to your hosts. It doesn't matter whether you believe in the traditional mode of worship or not, what stands true here is that we must learn to set boundaries.
You dare not go to India and mess with their cows, same with religious figures of other religions, some would even lynch you in the process. Religion is sensitive and we know it. Here's hoping the backlash he received since posting this picture on Social media will serve as a deterrent to others planning to do something similar in future.
