When the Yoruba speaking people of Nigeria says 'eniyan laso mi', it is one of their most profound sayings.
It means, 'human beings are one of our greatest resources' we cannot do without one another. Especially when people are there when you need them the most.
This story shared by this young Twitter user just went viral. None of the invited guests showed up to her best friend's baby shower, save for herself and her boyfriend, the guests could not be bothered. How heartbreaking can that be? Reminds yours truly this story told of a rich man who threw a superlative wedding party for his daughter, slaughtering many cows in their numbers. At the end of the day, the number of guests that showed up at the event was very negligible, as party loving as most Nigerians are, they ignored this man as he was said not to be a nice/good person. He ended up sharing the excess fried cow meat to beggars on the railway line. .
However, that is not to say this woman whose Shower was not attended is a bad person, the guests must have had their reasons for not showing up. Luckily for her, things took a turn for the best when sympathizers asked for the pregnant lady's address and registry at Walmart.
As the situation elicited pity from most people and they have started shipping gifts to her and her unborn baby. Some are even proposing a redo of the Baby shower. We just believe nothing trumps that presence and the warmth that the presence of real people could have brought, but it is a sort of happy ending for her isn't it? We wish her and her unborn child the very best.
