That drugs,like every other commodity in the country are now so expensive,is an open secret.Hence I will like to urge my readers to please beware of the type of Chemist or Pharmaceutical stores they patronize.In these times where drugs are among the items that are being heavily taxed,it is a pity to note that adulterated drugs will be in every nooks and cranies of the nation.
This is so because prior to this period where popular Anti Malaria drugs and Antibiotics became 'luxury' items according to the Government,there are influx of fake drugs in the country. Except for reputable pharmacies, some of these corner stores cannot be trusted.It is so bad that they target Children's drugs mostly,it is so disheartening that drugs meant for Children can be tampered with. How callous can people be,that in your quest for wealth you would feed people poisons all in the name of drugs.
Now is the time for the regulatory body, National Agency for Food and Drugs (NAFDAC) to clamp down on these saboteurs who are hell bent on making money through any means possible,endangering lives in the process. Since the demise of the erstwhile Director of this Agency (NAFDAC) Professor Mrs Dora Akunyili,who weilded the big stick against perpetrators of these heinous acts,much has not really been heard about NAFDAC. The agency should know that they need to give their hundred percent as it is a sensitive institution they are Manning.
So in summary,we should all endeavor to patronize the right sources ,do not just pick drugs anywhere because they are cheaper,remember your kidneys are very sensitive and in trying to make ourselves healthy, we should not damage our vital organs in the process.
