Two NYSC members died on their way back from camp to their respective homes yesterday and the tragedy occurred along Taraba/Benue road.
Unfortunately these duo have now joined the statistics of youth corp members who has died in accidents on their way either to or from camp.The number of youth Corp members in the country that has died in the course of travelling from this scheme is becoming alarming,no year or batch passes by without some of the Nigerian graduates being victims.
This time around these two youths who decided to serve their fatherland died as a result of the Government's failure to fix our roads,roads that have become death traps.One can only imagine the anguish of the parents of these two who sacrificed everything to send their children to the university, only for them to die an untimely death in a fatal accident.
This and many more makes people wonder if the NYSC scheme should still continue,because it seems the life and safety of Graduates willing to serve their fatherland in remote parts of the country are not gauranteed.
