Ardent readers of Saturday Punch Newspapers would agree with me that one of the columns they look forward to in the weekend Dailies is Aso Rock Lens, written by Olalekan Adetayo.
A superb, witty and detailed writer, might I also add that he is a fearless Journalist. He takes us on a weekly journey into the activities happening at the seat of Power, Aso Rock. That way, a lot of his readers get insights into how those at the helm of the nation's affairs run the show.
Particularly, his reportage on the Federal Executive Council(FEC) Meetings is one yours truly reads with so much glee, the banters shared amongst the Ministers, who and who was called to pray in the Muslim and Christian way by the President or his vice before the meeting commences etc, Adetayo reports them all.
But I digress, lately, Adetayo has been writing on the absence of the President at FEC meetings making reference to the President's health..From thence, I smelt trouble. Some politicians want him to censor the news he reports.
Which is why it didn't really come as shock when it was reported that he has been allegedly expelled from the Villa by the CSO. Here is a picture of Adetayo being escorted out of the Villa. Press Freedom anyone?
