More awareness should be given to blood donation in Nigeria. I believe people, especially the semi-literate ones should be properly sensitized about the issue. It will go a long way in helping our health sector.
In Nigeria today, accident victims die most times because they have lost a lot of blood and their are no willing donors. Our blood banks are said not to be sufficient. In this age and time, I don't think Nigeria should still find itself backward when it comes to providing blood needed for necessary surgeries.
It is so ridiculous that, I have heard a case of a husband who said he is scared of his blood being taken in order to save his wife's life, mind you the wife was in the labor room. He believes it will be inimical to his own health. Reasons like this is why there should be information in every nook and crannies of the country, that the exercise portends no harm.
As citizens of this great countries, let us try our best to serve humanity and help our fellow man. One good turn they say, deserves another. If you can, please do not look the other way.
