DINO MELAYE AND HIS UNBECOMING THEATRICS

Senator Dino Melaye is not a stranger to controversy. Since his foray into Nigerian politics, he has  been involved in one scandal or the other.Known for his outspokeness, the Senator courts controversy both in the public and private aspects of his life.

From being accused of wife battering to a celebrated paternity scandal, Melaye has been there and done that.So when Sahara Reporters, a leading online news medium, came out with the news that the Senator Representing Kogi West at the upper Chamber did not  graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University which he claimed to have graduated from, it was obvious that Melaye has yet again found himself in another scandal. Sahara Reporters have been flooding the internet with different proofs to support their claim. The inconsistencies in Melaye's results and the year he graduated has not helped matters.

As the media frenzy over the certificate scandal is yet to wane, yesterday the Senator released a video where he was shown singing and dancing in order  to shame his purported  enemies. This is as a result of  the statement by  Vice Chancellor of the University  in Question, who came out with a press  statement which stated that indeed the Senator graduated from the institution in the year 2000. The video, which went viral received a lot of backlash from Nigerians home and abroad as Dino's conduct is said to be unbecoming for a Senator.

While Nigerians were still mulling over  what they termed a shameful  Video, Dino Melaye appeared at the plenary session at the Senate today garbed in an academic gown and it was totally ridiculous. It begs the question of how undignified the Nigerian Senate is fast becoming  with characters such as Melaye. The sanctity of the Upper Chamber is being diminished before our very eyes.

At a time when Nigerian Leaders  ought to be on their toes in trying to solve the myraid of problems the country is plaqued with, the last thing Nigerians need is the distraction caused by Dino and his theatrics at the hallowed chamber.
