PRESIDENT BUHARI,HIS WIFE,THE KITCHEN AND OTHER ROOMS

Wife of the Nigerian President Aisha Buhari,in an interview granted to BBC Hausa recently said she would not support her husband for a second term if the status quo remains.

Just some hours ago,the Nigerian President ,who is currently in Germany was quoted to have laughed off Aisha's statement by saying she belongs in his kitchen, living room and other rooms.

While  I am patiently  waiting for President Buhari's  spin doctors right now to try and justify his recent statement that his wife Aisha belongs in the kitchen and the 'other room'.One must not fail to see the underlying message in this.

The President has numerous media aides, but I doubt  he listens to any one of them.He doesn't believe in mincing words no matter how damaging.

In 2016,saying a woman belongs to the kitchen is very absurd, when women are making giant strides all over the world.(Before you jump to conclusions, women do multitask and yes we take care of the homefront while also pursuing our vision in life, saying this to assuage the minds of any chauvinist reading this) how ironic it is that he granted this interview in Germany,on a visit to one of the most powerful women in the world, Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor.I wonder what goes on in his mind about her then.Since she's obviously not ruling/formulating policies from the 'other room' or the kitchen.

The ones I really feel for right now are the  women up North who's men often times believe they are not to be heard, this statement from the President just validated their assertion.

What if he jokingly made that statement? (expensive joke though). To me, I believe he knows the repercussion of such statements.

Even if it was "a joke " a president shouldn't make such jokes, at this day and age? I was so disappointed when I first heard the news. NO to gender inequality!

Thank you Funmibi,Izu,that was a distasteful joke, you don't make gender based jokes such as that. Not in this age and time.
