SARS BRUTALITY AND NIGERIAN YOUTHS

There is a movement sweeping all over Nigerian Social Media space right now.

It is hash tagged 'End SARS'. SARs, is the Acronym for Special Anti Robbery Squad. A mere look at them upon first contact normally sends shivers down one's spine, understandably. They have to match the daredevil men of the underworld. While we want the Government to combat Armed robbery no doubt, but a situation where the people tasked with doing the job has now turned on Nigerian youths, brutalizing and killing them in the process, then there needs to be an urgent reform.

I once had the unfortunate privilege of having to go bail two different young men twice, young men coming to Lagos for holidays, accused of being Yahoo boys, with no evidence and trust me, I thought that was in the purview of the EFCC.

For how long do we continue like this. Something needs to give. The wanton killing of young viable men has got to stop. I am not for erasing SARs totally, but a vast reorientation is highly needed across board.
