WE STILL NEED TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT HIV

People seem docile about the fact that HIV is a scourge in this country, well as it is all over the world.

Nigeria happens to be one of the countries with the highest population of people infected and living with HIV, next to Uganda. People are still reckless about their sexual lives. As a matter of fact, promiscuity and recklessness is on the rise.

Now to the main point of this article. There are still people who think HIV is a ruse or a fictionalized thing. So I was talking to this not exactly well read woman and she told me in Yoruba language 'mi o mo pe ooto ni aarun yen o, mo rowipe won kan fin se film Yoruba ni'.( so the HIV disease is real? I only thought they use it to scare people in Yoruba movies).

Imagine the dangers therein, sadly, there are so many like that in our immediate environment, who are not educated about so many things. It is our duty as enlightened people to never stop talking it, we cannot shy away from it.

I had to sit her down and sensitize her about the dangers inherent in unprotected intercourse. It is a long journey, but we are on course.
