VOCABULARY TIME

Hi readers, you would have noticed by now I love stressing on homonyms, this is because people make lots of mistakes switching one inappropriate word for the other simply because they are pronounced or spelt the same way, forgetting they have different meanings. Hence an  Homonym will be   focal point today and the words  are PARK and PACK.

I cannot recall the number of times I have seen people misuse these two words when I read, especially on social media. So let us get to their meanings;

1. PARK - A large public garden or area used for recreation. E.g. Freedom Park in Lagos.

B. Another meaning of Park, is a designated area for vehicles or to leave vehicles, e.g. Parking Lot. Parking a car, etc..

2. PACK  - This can mean a container, package or parcel, e.g. we hear words like Party Packs for Children.

b. To gather things in one space, to put them in order, e.g. Pack cloths.
