VOCABULARY TIME(HOMONYM)

It is yet another time for homonyms. The word I want to talk about today is so common and used interchangeably, that I myself still made a mistake recently switching one for the other.

The words are FAITH and FATE. We must now that native speakers of English do not pronounce the two words the same way although the sound is almost the same. However in this clime where English is not our mother tongue but a second Language, we tend to categorize the sounds as the same.

So let us go below to find out  what they both mean:

Faith : Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

According to the Bible, it is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith can also depict a dogma, a religious belief or sect.

Fate : The development of events outside a person's control, regarded as predetermined by a supernatural power. E.G As fate would have it. Like I said, i made a mistake in a broadcast recently an wrote 'as faith would have it'.Instead of the word Fate.

It is easy to fall prey to these mistake, but once we master our vocabularies, you become a pro at it.
