ABOUT IMMUNIZATIONS

It is of utmost importance for us to immunize our children against infections right from birth.A new born is not even allowed to go home in most cases before taking the BCG vaccine at most health facilities .They are that important.

Immunization is needed throughout the early developmental stages of a child. It cannot be overemphanized, how the immunity of children should be guarded against diseases especially in the case of an epidemic.

Luckily, Governments give these injections to children for free at various health centers and general hospitals. The private health organizations also charge reasonable amounts, depending on the service an individual prefers, but what is important  is that a child must be vaccinated.

Consequently  in  my experience on this immunization matter,I soon discovered quickly that crankiness, fever in a child ,rise in temperature  all comes with the territory. I wonder if  anybody can  kindly explain  the  reasons children, especially babies get cranky and prone to fever when they get inoculated.I sought for answers, yet to get a satisfactory  one.

It is confusing to me that vaccines meant to inoculate them in turn makes them uncomfortable..yes I know injections are not what everyone looks forward  to , even adults, but I hope  I am able to get the points I am passing  across .. Especially  if you have  witnessed a day in the life a newly immunized baby, from the Pentas,Hepatitis vaccines, to Polio Vaccines just name it, it is usually a day a mother stands on her toes literally. One needs a lot more insights to the workings of this  medical  miracle so to speak as advantageous  as they are.

As a mother or guardian you have to be prepared  when taking your ward for the different vaccines. The paracetamol  should be handy,it is non- negotiable. It helps in reducing and dousing  the impending rise in temperatures. At the end of the day it is for the overall good of the child.Luckily until a few incidents reared their ugly heads last year,Nigeria was said to have been Polio free for two years running. Hopefully it will be eradicated completely.

We will continue to create awareness for the need for parents to immunize their children.( I heard some religious organization forbids vaccinations  for their members, so a lot of work still needs to be done in that area in our society).
