THE ACCIDENTAL BOMBING IN BORNO-A COSTLY MISTAKE

A Costly mistake

What happened at the Rana,Borno State IDP Camp today is nothing short of a tragedy. How simplistic of the Government to call the avoidable death of scores of people  including ten foreign aid workers, women and children  an 'accidental bombing'.

Riddle me this..How can a Government Fighter Jet shoot blindly and accidentally bomb to death refugees seeking succor, refugees whom the Government  had hitherto  failed. Refugees that has been left to their own fate, their food items diverted, the females sexually molested. Now this. They were bombed to death in  a place that is supposed to be a safe haven.

Just when we are reeling from the mayhem and genocide  in Southern Kaduna, the citizenry is then hit with this news. We need salient answers to this ,Nigeria is one big puzzle too difficult to solve. We need answers this time.We need our Government to do more, we cannot keep saying life is cheap in Nigeria and they are  making the statement hold true, people have become vulnerable. The Government   is supposed to keep its  citizens safe from  both internal and external forces.Alas the opposite is the case.

We must not let this slide, these people must not die in vain, let there be thorough investigations so as to forestall a future occurrence. In a sane country, military heads will be turning in their letters of resignation by now,but since it is not a common occurence in Nigeria, the Government must ensure that actors are held accountable, heads must  roll, the Government must prove to the people that this is not Government as usual, let there be indictments if need be.

The People at the IDP camps have suffered enough, they have been dealt a deadly blow. They are Nigerians, their lives have been toyed with and they deserve justice.
