Yet to see a state in Nigeria without this type of classroom situation. Where students sit on the bare floor to study. It is even common sight.
What makes this picture a bit peculiar is the fact that the picture is reportedly from a school in Sokoto State. Recently, the Sokoto State Governor was said to have built a Palace worth 700 million Naira for a Monarch in the state. The Nigerian curse to underfund the education sector is getting alarming by the day.
If there are such huge amounts of money available numb the state coffers to build a palace, surely, seats and desks can be provided for students to learn. Teachers in that state can be paid as at when due and the Libraries can be stocked with books.
