PERSONAL DISCIPLINE IS AN ATTRIBUTE

Personal discipline is very hard. To be accountable to oneself when no one is watching or when no one is acting as an umpire can be a herculean task.

It is a different thing when we are answerable to an authority, hence we  feel compelled to do the right thing(s)E.g, getting to work early, because a query is imminent once we don't, waking up early to prepare your children for school because they must not be late or going for that hospital appointment because the body is already giving signals of being very weak etc .Those types of disciplines are not that voluntary, we carry them out, out of neccesity. We abide by them to allow for a smooth transition of events in our daily lives.

What is being discussed here is personal discipline, those types which renders us accountable to only our  own selves, like planning to study the word for an hour a day, dedicating a particular time in the day to pray and once we fail to abide by these set goals, life still goes on. Who would 'beat' you if you don't pray in a day for instance? Another example is planning to read one chapter of a book per day, but when we fail to do so, we have that feeling of so what? What about fitness, we plan never to take Sodas again and a glimpse of a chilled bottle of Coca Cola, we are quick to give excuses like 'I will start my fitness journey another time jare' ..

There are so many aspects of life that requires us to be diciplined without anyone watching. Personal discipline is  the hardest, but we must always strive.. It sums up who we are, it tests the strength of our characters.
