ACTS OF SYCOPHANCY

Apart from the not so beautiful cakes packed on the table as though there was a mediocre cake fair going on, every other thing is wrong with this picture.

In a state where extra judicial killings occurred less than a month ago, owing to the demolition of a market on the orders of the Governor, this Jamboree of a birthday celebration is uncalled for.  It reeks of sycophancy. When are we going to stop hero worshipping our political leaders? When? When are we as a people going to demand good governance and make these leaders accountable?

It is such a shame that so called women from the 27 local Governments in IMO state constituted the majority of 'guests' at this pre- birthday celebration for Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Women are known to be the 'backbones' of major markets, if there is anything at all they should be doing at this wanton celebration, it is demanding answers from the Governor, not for the demolition, but for the way it was handled. With people treated as lesser animals with loss of lives.

All we see are elaborately dressed people with an exaggerated sense of self enjoying themselves with a display of unwarranted fanfare around a supposed servant leader.
