PIERRE NKURUNZIZA BECOMES BURUNDIAN PRESIDENT FOR THE THIRD TIME

Pierre Nkurunziza has been sworn in as the President of Burundi for her third time in a controversial election which has thrown the country into chaos.

The election was highly disputed and it led to a boycott by the opposition.

Nkurunziza took the "oath for a new term of five years", the presidency said in a statement, in a surprise ceremony on Thursday, announced only a few hours in advance. His previous tenure was slated to end on August 26.
His third term has been condemned as unconstitutional by the opposition and provoked months of protests. In mid-May, rebel generals attempted a coup, which failed.

Foreign Observers said the elections were flawed and marred with inconsistencies ,it was not free and credible.

I wonder why African Leaders have this sit tight mentality. They want to be in power  forever, and they do everything possible to foist themselves on the masses. It is obvious that they use these leadership positions are used to enrich themselves.
