MAKING A STATEMENT IN IRO AND BUBA- THE TAYO SOBOLA WAY

Times actress Tayo Sobola, popularly known as Sotayogaga has made us fall in love with the Yoruba traditional 'Iro and Buba' ensemble.

Back in the day, Iro and Buba used to be in the exclusive preserve of our Mummies and older aunties. The belief then was that the style made younger women look older. Thankfully, some years back, the style made it's way mainstream and youthful ladies started to embrace it. We however wear it in different variations. We most times make the hands of the Buba shorter or simply make a blouse and tie the iro as a wrapper.

One good thing about the Iro and Buba style however, is that, it is very affordable, compared to when one  wants to go all out and make other beautiful styles, like gowns or a skirt and blouse combination. Another advantage of the Iro and Buba is also when we are  considering the time factor, a good tailor can do justice to an Iro and Buba outfit within an hour.

Hence, we have been following the style of this Nollywood actress Tayo Sobola for a while and one thing we have realized is the fact that she never shies away from wearing her Iro and Buba to any function. She in turn always look very fabulous in them. Sotayogaga must have noticed that the style fits her like a glove. Always beautiful and radiant with eye catching jewelry to boot, it sure makes her the cynosure of all eyes when she appears at any event in her signature iro and Buba.

Lastly, Iro and Buba is a good way of preserving one's  fabric. In years to come, one can make other styles out of them, especially the Iro(wrapper) which consumes many yards of fabrics in the first place. Tayo is the inspiration behind this post and we look forward to seeing her in other Iro and Buba outfits.
