PHOTOS FROM THE DEUTSHE WELLE DIGITAL HEROES BLOGGERS CONFERENCE


It was an awesome time yesterday at the Digital Heroes Bloggers Conference organized by Deutsche Welle Africa.


The Chairman's keynote address focused on efforts of Deustshe Welle as an European media/Broadcast institute in striving to make a difference in Africa. He talked about the persecution of some of their Journalists recently in Northern Nigeria. Their exclusive interview with IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu etc. Also about their presence in various Africa Countries, the welfare of their Journalists here in Nigeria and their view on balanced reportage of news emanating from Africa.

We got to learn about the Deutsche Welle's new Radio program, African Roots which centers on we writers telling our stories to the world all by ourselves.

Then there were the panelists, made up of some of the best in the Nigerian Social Media sphere. Ariyike Akinbola  spoke on  a variety of issues, having to balance her work as a TV personality, Vlogger, Writer and Humanitarian with her role as a mum of three boys. She emphasized on how influencers can leverage on their social media presence to market themselves and other brands.

Japhet Omojuwa spoke on how he has been able to gather over half a million followers on Twitter and said Nigerians are yet to fill up the digital space, we are just starting out. Simon, the Online Editor for Channels TV, talked about Social media Responsibility, the role of New media and Traditional media amongst other issues.

The highlight of the event was the moment Bloggers who participated and won in the Digital Heroes competition in various categories were issued their awards and prizes.
