VOCABULARY TIME

Often times I interchange between the words GATHER and GARNER. The two words serve almost the same purpose.

However, to GARNER is used mostly to mean to earn something, For example, as someone seeking for an elective post, you need to GARNER enough votes. We can also garner information

While obviously to GATHER means, to collect, to bring together, muster, assemble, accumulate etc.

In summary, GARNER serves as a synonym for GATHER.
